Aluminium is much lighter than steel which means less strain for you to move your coop around your yard. Also, unlike steel or timber, aluminum will not rust or deteriorate in the weather. You can be rest assured that your coop will be looking just as great in many years time.
Small-sized galvanized mesh
The coops have been made using small sized steel mesh, 2.5mm thick with 25mm squares. This strong mesh is difficult to accidently damage and is impossible for foxes to chew through! We now also make coops using 'mini mesh' for those needing extra protection from snakes and rodents. See upgrade below.
Mini Fluted Corrugated Iron
The roof of the Chicken Roll is made using very stylish zincalume mini corrugated iron. Coops are also available in Colorbond for those wishing their coop to match the colour of their fence or shed! (see upgrades section below)
Unlike imported coops, Royal Rooster coops are designed and made in Australia, taking into consideration our very hot summers. There are two ventilation mesh panels on the sides of the coop to help maximize ventilation on hot days. Optional 'weather shields' can also be purchased to cover over these panels to provide extra protection in wet weather (see upgrades section below).
As these coops are made of aluminium, they are surprisingly light to move around your yard. With one person on either end, you can easily move your coop area. Optional sets of wheels are also available for those wishing to move the coop with just one person (see upgrades section below).
Open Floor Design
The coops have an open floor design to allow your chickens to scratch up the soil beneath the coop, enjoying fresh weeds, seeds and bugs. Once they're adequately turned up your soil, you can move the coop along to another area for your chickens to enjoy. Optional 'fox proof floors' can also be purchased for those needing extra protection from these predators (see upgrades section below).
Two door access
The Chicken Roll coops have two latched doors at both ends of the coop to allow easy access to the laying boxes (rear door) as well as to supply fresh water and food for your chickens. The very popular Royal Rooster drinker and feeder sets can also be purchased which simply hook onto the mesh of the coop, making it very easy to refill the water and replenish the feed as needed.
Wooden laying box & egg collection
The Chicken Roll coop comes with 1 quality wooden laying box for your chickens to share (chickens naturally share nesting areas). All you need to do is add the straw! The rear door of the coop opens to allow easy assess for your eggs. Additional laying boxes can be purchased if desired.
Two wooden perches are provided for your chickens to perch on for the night. These perches are 40mm wide and 12mm thick, which is said to be the best size and shape for chickens to comfortably perch on for nighttime sleep.
Wheels - For $45 extra, the coops can be fitted with wheels. These are located midway along the coop and can be raised into the moving position when needed. You will find that these coops are a breeze to move.
Weather Shields - To keep your chickens nice and cosy in the colder months, you can purchase weather shields that fit over the ventilation areas of the coop. This includes two panels that fit over the side ventilation panels plus an additional shield that fits inside the coop to further enclose the housing section. $45 for the three shields.
Fox Proof Floor - If foxes or dogs are a problem, you can purchase an wire mesh floor for your coop ($45). The large sized mesh floor (with 10cm x 15cm rectangles) still enables your chickens to scratch the soil and at the same time gives you peace of mind about their safety overnight.
Mini Mesh - If snakes or rodents are an issue, we can make your Chicken Roll coop using mini mesh galvanised wire, rather than the standard 25mm mesh (25mm gauge wire). This mini mesh has 12.5mm squares and 1.6mm gauge wire.
Colorbond - The coops are also available using Colorbond materials for the roof and enclosed door ($45 extra), with the remaining materials made from Zincalume. Colorbond colours to choose from are Cottage Green, Pale Eucalypt and Deep Ocean. Please ask if you are interested in a different Colorbond colour.
Drinker & Feeder Sets - These great slim-line sets are designed specifically for use on these coops. $75 per set which includes a rain cover on the feed to keep it nice and dry all year round.
Delivery Insurance - Highly recommended. This covers the replacement or repair of your coop if damaged in transit as well as the freight to transport damaged parts back to us and new parts over to you. Only $12 for peace of mind.
Additional Laying Boxes - One wooden laying box is provided with the Chicken Roll, but if you prefer more they can be purchased for $15 each.
Express Dispatch Service - For those needing their coop dispatched in a hurry, go to the front of the line with our express dispatch service. This means your coop will be sent off within 1-2 business days after your order has been received.
These coops are very simple to put together and come with detailed, illustrated instructions. You’ll need just 2 adjustable spanners, an electric drill and a number 2 Philips-head driver. Assembly time should be between 1-2 hours.
All coops are made in our purpose built premises in Willaston in South Australia. We aim to dispatch coops approximately 1 week after an order has been placed. Delivery with TNT generally then takes between 1-2 weeks to arrive. If you live in SA, pickup from our premises is most welcome.
